From Builder Grade to Upgrade
📍 Moncton, NB
I found this apartment building in Moncton, built in 2020, and decided to upgrade the kitchen from its builder grade finishes.
I understand the appeal of boring beige and sparkly white, but I wanted to add a distinct point of view for the main gathering place of the home, and go for a sort of cozy cafe feel.
BEFORE:
THE PLAN:
Use paint to create maximum impact. This upgrade shows what a difference paint can make, because that’s the only real change I made, then I completed the look with new furniture and accessories.
AFTER:
Products used to achieve this look:
Paint and Backsplash:
Damier Paris Peel and Stick Tiles by Smart Tiles, made in Canada
Wall/Ceiling Paint by BeautiTone, colour: Little Black Number, made in Ontario
Cabinet Paint by BeautiTone, colour: Covered Bridge, made in Ontario
If you’re in a rental, make sure to ask permission before painting— especially for cabinets; and make sure you prep the surfaces and use the correct painting products for lasting results.
